Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 4, 2026 · Version 2026-07-04
This Privacy Policy explains how Connecting Odds ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use our website, mobile experiences and related services (collectively, the "Service"). It applies to visitors, registered members, job seekers, recruiters and company representatives. This page is maintained by Connecting Odds to answer common privacy questions about our product; it is not an independent certification.
1. Who we are
Connecting Odds operates a professional networking platform that lets people build profiles, publish content, message each other, apply to jobs, and let recruiters and companies discover talent. If you have questions about this policy or your data, contact us at privacy@connectingodds.com.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Account details - name, email address, username, password (stored hashed), and, when you choose Google sign-in, your Google profile identifier and basic profile fields.
- Profile content - photo, headline, bio, locations, work experience, education, certifications, skills, resumes, portfolio links, and open-to-work / hiring signals you choose to share.
- Content you post - posts, comments, reactions, group posts, page posts, direct messages, message attachments, and meeting notes.
- Professional actions - connections, follows, job applications, saved jobs, saved searches, feedback and support tickets you submit.
- Consents and preferences - Terms and Privacy acceptance at signup, cookie choices, notification preferences, company-authorization confirmations, and data-subject requests.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical data - IP address, approximate location derived from IP, device type, browser, operating system, and referring URL.
- Usage data - pages viewed, search queries and results, features used, timestamps, error and performance signals.
- Cookies and similar technologies - see our Cookie Policy and manage choices in Cookie Preferences.
2.3 Information from third parties
- Google OAuth - when you sign in with Google, we receive the profile fields you authorise (typically name, email, avatar).
- Company email verification - when you verify a work email, we record the verified domain and timestamp.
- Referrers - if another member invites you, we may receive that reference so we can attribute the invitation.
3. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and authenticate you.
- To operate core features - feeds, search, messaging, connections, meetings, calls, notifications, job postings and applications.
- To match candidates and roles, surface relevant people, companies and content.
- To send transactional and service emails (verification, security, meeting invitations, application updates, digests you enable).
- To detect, prevent and respond to fraud, abuse, spam and violations of our Terms.
- To measure and improve the Service, including product analytics and reliability.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
4. Legal bases (EEA/UK users)
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) - to deliver features you request, such as your profile, messages and job applications.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) - to keep the Service secure, prevent abuse, improve product quality, and enable recruiter discovery of visible profiles.
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) - for optional cookies, marketing emails you opt into, and sensitive visibility toggles (e.g. open-to-work signals shared with recruiters).
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) - to comply with tax, accounting, and lawful information requests.
5. Visibility and sharing
Connecting Odds is a professional network - some information you provide is designed to be seen by others.
- Other members - your public profile, posts, comments and reactions are visible to other members and, where applicable, to the public web and search engines. You control most visibility from your profile and settings.
- Recruiters and companies - if you opt into open-to-work, apply to a job, or make your profile discoverable, recruiters and the specific company you apply to can view relevant fields (resume, contact info you provided in the application, and profile).
- Service providers (subprocessors) - we use vetted providers for cloud hosting and database (Lovable Cloud infrastructure), transactional email delivery, error monitoring, and product analytics. These providers process data only on our instructions and under written agreements.
- Legal and safety - we may disclose information to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety and property of Connecting Odds, our members, or the public.
- Business transfers - if we're involved in a merger, acquisition or asset sale, personal data may be transferred, subject to this policy.
- We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
6. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect international transfers.
7. Retention
- We retain your account and profile data while your account is active.
- When you request erasure or delete your account, we anonymise or delete personal data within 30 days, except records we are legally required to retain (e.g. audit logs, tax records, safety records related to reports of abuse).
- Backup copies are purged on our standard rotation.
- Aggregated or de-identified data may be retained for analytics and reliability.
8. Your rights
Subject to your local law (including GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy in a portable format.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your account and personal data (right to erasure).
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including opting out of marketing communications.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
- Non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
Exercise most rights directly from Settings → My data & privacy, or submit a request at Data Request. See our Data Processing Addendum for controller/processor terms.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest for our managed database and storage, role-based access, and row-level security policies that restrict access to your data. Passwords are hashed. No system is 100% secure - please use a strong, unique password and enable multi-factor authentication where offered.
10. Children
Connecting Odds is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact privacy@connectingodds.com and we will delete it.
11. Cookies and analytics
We use strictly necessary cookies to run the Service, plus optional functional and analytics cookies to improve the product. Manage your choices anytime in Cookie Preferences. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.
12. Automated decision-making
We use ranking and matching algorithms to order feeds, search results and job suggestions. These do not produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. You can request human review of any account action that materially affects you by contacting privacy@connectingodds.com.
13. Third-party links
Profiles, posts and messages may contain links to third-party sites. This policy does not apply to those sites - please review their own privacy notices.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in-product or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
