Account and profile

Everything about creating, configuring and deleting your Connecting Odds account, including profile visibility, sign-in providers and multi-factor authentication.

How do I create an account?

Go to /auth, choose sign-up, and enter your email address plus a password, or continue with Google. Country and state are required so the matching engine can respect location preferences from day one. You will land on the onboarding flow that helps you fill out a profile in under three minutes.

Can I sign in with Google or Apple?

Google is supported today. Apple sign-in and Microsoft sign-in are on the near-term roadmap. Every social provider uses a broker that keeps your session inside Connecting Odds' own authentication surface, and no third party receives your login events.

How do I update my profile picture?

From your profile page, click the profile icon. You will see options to upload a new image (JPG or PNG, up to 5 MB), rotate, crop and preview before saving. The change appears instantly to your connections.

Can I hide specific fields from the public?

Yes. Every profile field (headline, current company, education, phone, resume) has three visibility levels: public, connections only, and private. Recruiter access can be granted separately if you want to be findable in search without exposing your phone number to strangers.

How do I enable two-factor authentication?

Settings, then Security, then MFA. Scan the QR with any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy) and enter the six-digit code. Recovery codes are generated once and should be printed and stored safely.

How do I delete my account?

Settings, then Privacy, then Delete Account. Confirm your password and complete the reason survey. Your account is deactivated immediately and permanently deleted after 30 days. During the grace period you can restore by signing in and cancelling deletion.

What happens to my data on deletion?

After the 30-day grace, your profile, messages, applications and activity are permanently removed. Aggregated analytics (which retain no personal identifiers) are kept. Messages you sent to other users remain in their inbox with your account shown as 'former user'.

How do I export my data?

Settings, then Privacy, then Export. Within 24 hours you receive a downloadable ZIP with your profile in JSON, your messages in NDJSON, your applications in CSV and any uploaded files.

Features and workflows

How to use the core capabilities: voice, video, messaging, matching, scheduling, and pipelines.

How do I start a voice call?

Open a conversation with an accepted connection and click the phone icon. The other side rings; when they accept, the call starts inside the chat window. No dial-in numbers, no meeting IDs. Calls are peer-to-peer WebRTC with TURN fallback.

How do I start a video call?

From any active voice call, click the camera icon to escalate to video. Alternatively, click the camera icon directly in a chat to start with video. Video supports up to 8 attendees, screen sharing and in-call chat.

Do I need to install anything to receive a call?

No. Every call runs in the browser. On mobile, the progressive web app can be installed to your home screen so notifications work reliably, but installation is optional.

Can I record a call?

Recording is on the roadmap for a future release. When it ships, both parties will see a clear indicator whenever recording is active, and the recording will be retained per your privacy preferences.

How does scheduling work?

Every account gets a public booking URL at /in/your-slug/book. Configure the days and hours you accept meetings, connect your Google Calendar or Outlook, and Connecting Odds prevents double-bookings, sends reminders and drops a joinable meeting link into the confirmation.

How do matches work for candidates?

Mark yourself open to work in profile settings. The matching engine surfaces roles that a recruiter has explicitly earmarked for a candidate with your profile. You see the match reasons transparently: seniority, industry, location, salary and skill overlap.

How do matches work for recruiters?

Post a role from your company page, tag it with seniority, industry, location and salary band, and matched candidates appear in the pipeline's Sourced column with the same transparent reason list. There is no black-box score.

Can I message someone I am not connected with?

Only if they have flipped on 'open to cold outreach' in their profile. Otherwise, messaging is connection-gated and you must send a connection request first. Recruiters at hiring companies have a small daily quota of outreach messages to open-to-work candidates without a prior connection.

How large can a group conversation be?

Up to 50 participants. For larger discussions, create a Group and use group posts with commenting.

For companies and recruiters

Everything a company needs to run hiring on Connecting Odds, from posting a job to onboarding a new recruiter.

How do I create a company page?

Sign in, then go to /company/create. You will need the company name, industry, size, headquarters and (optionally) logo and banner. Once the page is live you can post unlimited jobs.

How do I invite team members?

From the company page, click Members, then Invite. Enter the email of the team member and pick a role: Member, Recruiter, Hiring Manager, Admin. Owner rights are transferred separately by the current owner.

How many jobs can I post?

Unlimited. There is no per-listing fee and no cap on how many roles a company can advertise.

How do I promote a job?

Featured placement on /jobs is a future opt-in add-on, clearly labelled as promoted. The base posting reaches every matched candidate immediately without any paid promotion.

Can candidates apply without leaving Connecting Odds?

Yes. One-click apply attaches the candidate's active resume, adds any custom questions your job form specifies, and drops the application into your pipeline's Sourced column.

How do I move a candidate through the pipeline?

Drag them across the Kanban columns, or open the candidate and use the stage selector. Every move is written to the audit log with the actor and timestamp.

Can two recruiters share notes on one candidate?

Yes. Every candidate has a shared note pad where team members can @mention each other, react and thread replies. Notes are visible only to members of the company with the right role.

Do you integrate with our ATS?

Webhooks fire on every application received, every stage change and every message sent. Direct connectors for Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby are on the roadmap for a future release.

Privacy, security and compliance

How your data is stored, secured and used.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell profile data, message content or activity to any third party. Ever.

Do you run ads?

No. There are no ads anywhere in the product and no paid placement in search or match results.

Is Connecting Odds GDPR compliant?

Yes. We publish a Data Processing Addendum on request, list every sub-processor publicly, and honour data-subject requests (access, correction, deletion, portability) within statutory deadlines.

Is Connecting Odds CCPA compliant?

Yes. California residents can exercise access, deletion and opt-out rights through the same privacy dashboard used for GDPR requests.

How is my data encrypted?

TLS 1.3 in transit. AES-256 at rest. Passwords are Argon2id-hashed with per-user salts.

Where is my data stored?

Primary data resides in EU and US regions with continuous backup to encrypted cold storage. We can restrict storage to a specific region for enterprise customers under a DPA.

What is your incident response process?

Security incidents are triaged within one business day of detection. Affected users are notified within statutory deadlines (typically 72 hours for GDPR-triggering events). A post-incident report is published on the trust page.

Do you support SSO?

SAML SSO is available on the team plan. SCIM 2.0 provisioning is on the roadmap for early 2027.

How do I report a security issue?

Send a full report to security@connectingodds.com. We acknowledge within one business day and coordinate disclosure through our public bug-bounty programme.

Billing and pricing

What the product costs, when it might not, and how to reason about total cost of ownership.

How much does Connecting Odds cost?

Zero, for both candidates and companies, on every current feature. See the pricing page for the underlying reasoning.

Will you always be free?

The core features (matching, messaging, calls, scheduling, pipelines, applications, company pages) are committed to be free. Optional enterprise add-ons (SSO, SCIM, advanced audit) may carry a fee in a future release. Any pricing change will be announced well in advance.

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. Sign-up requires only an email and password.

How can you afford to be free?

Modern serverless infrastructure has dramatically different unit economics than the incumbents' 2005-era pricing models. Our marginal cost per message is measured in cents, not dollars. See /pricing for the full reasoning.

Do you offer refunds?

Not applicable; the product is free.

Getting help

How to reach a human when you need one.

How do I contact support?

Send an email to support@connectingodds.com. First-touch response typically lands within 8 business hours. For urgent security issues, use security@connectingodds.com.

Do you have a status page?

Yes. Real-time uptime for every subsystem (auth, messaging, calls, scheduling, matching) is at status.connectingodds.com.

How do I request a feature?

Use the Feedback link in the footer, or email feedback@connectingodds.com. Every request is triaged; roadmap-worthy ideas get posted to /guides with the community discussion.

Is there a community forum?

Yes, inside Connecting Odds itself. Join the Connecting Odds Users group for tips, workflows and roadmap discussion.

Matching, in depth

Everything about how the two-sided matching engine works, what it uses and what it does not.

Does matching use my private data?

Matching uses only the fields you have made available to the counterparty audience. If your salary expectation is set to connections-only, recruiters cannot see it, and the salary component of the match will not fire on that side. Every match reason is derived from a field the counterparty is authorised to see.

How often are matches refreshed?

New matches are computed continuously as new profiles, roles or openness signals arrive. You can expect a new match batch to appear within minutes of a new role being posted.

Can I turn off matching entirely?

Yes. Profile settings has an 'exclude me from matching' toggle. When on, you can still browse jobs and message recruiters, but you will not appear in any match batch.

Are matches ranked by anything I can influence?

Rank is based on the number of matching criteria plus a small freshness weight. Profile completeness helps because it gives the engine more criteria to match on. No paid placement is possible.

Do matches include location filtering?

Yes. If a role is on-site in Berlin, only candidates who are in Berlin or explicitly open to relocation to Berlin will match. Country and state fields (required at sign-up) drive the location component.

Voice and video calls, in depth

Technical details, browser support, network requirements.

Which browsers support calls?

Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop; Chrome and Safari on mobile. Older browsers may fall back to text-only messaging with an error explaining the compatibility issue.

Does a call use my phone's data plan?

Yes. Video calls consume roughly 1.2 GB per hour at high quality, less on adaptive-bitrate downgrades. Voice-only calls are around 60 MB per hour.

Can I test my microphone before joining?

Yes. Every call prompt shows a mic and camera check with a live level meter and a self-view before you connect.

What happens if my connection drops mid-call?

The call attempts to reconnect for 30 seconds automatically. If reconnection fails, both sides see a 'disconnected' notice with a one-tap rejoin button. Notes and chat history from the call are preserved.

Are calls recorded?

Not currently. Recording with clear consent notification is on the roadmap. When it ships, both parties will see an indicator whenever recording is active.

Can I share my screen during a call?

Yes. Screen share is available on desktop browsers, sharing either a full display, a window, or a specific tab.

Resumes and profile completeness

Everything about uploading, tailoring and using your resume.

What formats can I upload?

PDF, DOCX, RTF and plain text, up to 5 MB per file.

How many resume variants can I keep?

One master resume plus up to five role-tailored variants per account.

Can I upload a resume for someone else?

No. Each account manages its own resume. If you are a recruiter, you can request that a candidate share their resume through the standard connection or application flow.

What happens to old versions when I update?

New applications use the updated resume. Existing applications keep the resume version originally sent so the recruiter's record does not change unexpectedly.

Is my resume searchable by everyone?

No. Resume visibility is per-field. Recruiters at hiring companies can request access; you approve on a per-request basis unless you have set your visibility to 'public'.

Scheduling and meetings, in depth

How the built-in scheduler works and integrates with your calendar.

Which calendars are supported?

Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook (including Office 365 and Exchange Online). Both are two-way sync.

Do calendars sync every event?

Only events created via Connecting Odds are written to your external calendar. Existing events in your external calendar are read to prevent double-bookings but are never modified.

Can I use timezones other than my system default?

Yes. Profile settings has an override for your primary timezone. Every meeting invite includes both the host's and the invitee's timezone for clarity.

Does scheduling support round-robin?

Yes. Company workspaces can create round-robin, collective and single-host event types, distributing bookings across a hiring pod evenly or requiring specific multi-interviewer availability.

Notifications, in depth

Full control over what pings you and when.

Can I mute notifications for a specific conversation?

Yes. Open the conversation, then use the bell icon in the header to mute for one hour, one day, one week or indefinitely.

How do I stop email notifications?

Settings, then Notifications. Every channel (new message, connection request, match, job update, etc.) has its own email toggle. Digest emails bundle low-priority activity so your inbox is not flooded.

Can I schedule a do-not-disturb window?

Yes. Recurring windows (weekends, weeknights, working hours only) are configurable from the notifications settings page.

Does connecting Google Calendar affect notifications?

Only for meeting reminders. Other notification categories are independent.

Integrations and third-party tools

Which external tools work with Connecting Odds, and how.

Do you integrate with Slack?

A Slack app for notification forwarding is on the roadmap for Q1 2027. In the meantime, our webhooks can be forwarded to Slack via Zapier or a simple relay endpoint.

Do you integrate with HRIS platforms?

Direct connectors for BambooHR, Rippling and Justworks are on the roadmap. Webhooks and the public API cover most integration needs today.

Can I export application data to my own data warehouse?

Yes. Webhooks fire on every application event and can be routed to any endpoint. CSV export is available for one-off snapshots.

Do you have a Chrome extension?

Not yet. The current product surface is browser-first and the PWA handles most of the same use cases a browser extension would cover.

Can I use Connecting Odds with an existing ATS?

Yes, via webhooks. Many teams run Connecting Odds as the sourcing and interviewing layer on top of an existing ATS that owns the compliance-heavy back office.

Search and discovery

How to find people, jobs, companies and posts.

How do I search for a specific person?

Use the top search bar and select the People tab. Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) and quoted phrases work as expected. Filter by location, current company, skills or seniority.

How do I save a search?

Run the search, click the Save icon, name the saved search and choose whether to receive email alerts (never, daily or weekly) when new matches appear.

Do jobs surface only in my region?

By default, jobs matching your saved location preferences appear first, but you can broaden with the Global toggle at the top of the jobs board.

Does the salary filter respect currency?

Yes. You set your preferred currency in profile settings; salary bands in every job listing are converted to that currency at the current exchange rate for display.

Recruiter specifics

Details for recruiters that come up frequently.

Can I message candidates in bulk?

Not by design. Bulk messaging leads to spammy outreach and lower response rates. The product intentionally optimises for personalised, higher-quality first messages.

Can two recruiters own the same job?

Yes. Every job posting can list a primary and secondary owner; both receive notifications and can move candidates.

Can I download a candidate's resume?

If the candidate has allowed it (visibility set to include recruiters), yes. If not, you see a preview but not a downloadable file.

How do I close a role?

Open the job, click Actions, select Close. The listing is removed from search, matching stops, and existing pipeline candidates are notified of the closure with an option to be considered for related roles.

How long do closed roles stay visible?

Closed roles remain readable at their URL indefinitely for auditability, but are excluded from search and matching from the close time onward.

Candidate specifics

Details for candidates that come up frequently.

How do I withdraw an application?

Open the application, click Actions, then Withdraw. The recruiter is notified and the application is archived from the pipeline.

Can I see whether a recruiter viewed my application?

Yes. The application detail shows Viewed / Opened timestamps.

Can I appeal a rejection?

The Reply button on any application communication routes back to the recruiter directly. Recruiters are not obligated to reconsider but are strongly encouraged to respond.

How do I make my profile private for a while?

Settings, then Visibility, then set your profile to Private. You remain signed in and can still browse jobs and message existing connections, but your profile is not searchable or matchable during that period.
