About this opportunity
Join us as a Google Cloud Engineer and help shape one of the UK's largest cloud transformations.
You'll join our Cloud Platform team, building secure, scalable and reusable cloud capabilities that support analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning and digital services across the Group. Your work will help engineering teams deliver more quickly, safely and consistently while improving the experience of developing and operating products on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Working alongside engineering, security, architecture and product teams, you'll have the opportunity to influence platform standards, improve developer productivity and create cloud capabilities used at scale across the organisation.
In this role, you'll:
- Design, build and operate secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and platform services on Google Cloud Platform.
- Develop reusable infrastructure patterns and Terraform modules that enable consistent, automated cloud deployments.
- Improve engineering productivity through automation, self-service tooling, CI/CD pipelines and platform capabilities.
- Translate security, risk and policy requirements into automated controls and guardrails that support safe cloud adoption.
- Create and enhance developer experiences through documentation, templates, workflows and platform automation.
- Take ownership of platform features from design through to delivery, contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
You'll also participate in an out-of-hours support rota and help shape engineering standards, tooling and ways of working across the Cloud Platform team.
