Connecting Odds writer guidelines
What we want
First-hand career lessons, practical job search and resume guidance, hiring, salary and workplace insights, professional skills, technology, leadership and business. Give readers examples, evidence and something useful they can take away. Submit at least 300 words; 300 to 3,000 words is a useful target, not a maximum.
Originality and AI assistance
You must own the work or have permission to publish it. Credit quotations, research and collaborators. AI can help you outline or edit, but disclose substantial AI assistance in the article and check every claim yourself. We reject copied, spun, generic filler, fabricated experience and invented sources. Automated checks flag originality risks, but are not a comprehensive plagiarism search or proof of authorship. Our automated editorial review screens every community submission, and editors audit published articles.
Images and sources
Use images you own or are licensed to share, with credits where required and descriptive alternative text. Images must load over HTTPS and be no larger than 10 MB. Use the cover upload and image tools. Link to primary sources and date statistics, salary information and legal guidance.
Links and promotion
Non-sponsored submissions may contain up to 8 external links. Keep links relevant, disclose commercial relationships and never sell backlinks. Community external links use nofollow and ugc; paid promotional links use sponsored. A personal profile link identifies the author and does not promise a dofollow backlink. Creator & Brand includes one labelled lead link button; it is also marked sponsored.
Your byline and rights
Articles identify the writer through their public profile, with the bio and website they choose to make public. Company articles identify the company and may credit an eligible team member. You retain copyright and grant Connecting Odds permission to host, display and distribute your submitted article under our terms. You may republish work you own elsewhere; credit the original publication and tell the editor about earlier publication. Avoid duplicate submissions made only for search traffic.
Review, changes and rejection
Save a draft, add a cover, accept the publishing statements and submit. Automated review checks usefulness, sourcing, structure, images, restricted content and link spam. Community submissions that pass can publish right away or be scheduled. Editors audit published articles and may add notes, request changes or remove pieces that break policy. Your dashboard shows the status and review notes. You can revise and resubmit; published edits stay pending while the live version remains available. Editors may request changes or reject unsafe, inaccurate, copied, off-topic or promotional submissions. Rejection and failed review do not consume a publication allowance.
No review turnaround is guaranteed. Automated results usually appear within moments of submitting. We will show the decision in My articles, not send article email notifications.
Publishing and scheduling
One accepted personal article is free every 120 days. Additional articles cost $9; Premium at $9/month includes unlimited personal articles. Creator & Brand at $19/month includes 5 articles in a rolling 30 days, reach statistics and a lead link. We do not sell sponsored articles, and payment never bypasses review.
Personal article scheduling is free up to 14 days ahead. Beyond 14 days, and company-page scheduling, require Premium or Creator & Brand. Publication happens only after approval and an allowance check. If review outlasts your requested time, choose a new future date after acceptance.
Editing and corrections
We may ask for edits or remove content that violates policy. Substantive revisions need review. Report errors through Contact; significant corrections should be explained in a dated note within the article. See the editorial policy for disclosures and review standards.
