Your Role

As a Mainframe SAS Architect at Kyndryl, you will lead the design and modernization of SAS solutions on IBM Mainframe platforms, helping clients transform and optimize their business-critical data environments. You will architect scalable and secure analytics solutions, drive performance and automation initiatives, and integrate SAS with core mainframe technologies such as DB2, IMS, VSAM, JCL, and COBOL. Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you will provide architectural guidance, ensure operational excellence, and support the delivery of reliable, high-performing enterprise solutions. You will also champion governance, security, and best practices while mentoring teams and leading modernization initiatives for some of the world's largest organizations.

What You Will Do

Lead the architecture and design of SAS solutions on IBM Mainframe (z/OS) platforms.
Drive modernization, automation, and performance improvement initiatives for SAS environments.
Design integrations with DB2, IMS, VSAM, COBOL, and JCL to support enterprise data processing.
Optimize batch workloads, scheduling, and production operations for reliability and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
Partner with business and technical teams to deliver scalable, business-critical analytics solutions.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

10+ years of hands-on experience in SAS development, administration, and production support environments.
Strong expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies including z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, RACF, DB2, IMS, VSAM, and COBOL.
Proven experience leading Mainframe architecture, technical solution design, and large-scale batch processing environments.
Advanced knowledge of SAS technologies including Base SAS, SAS Macro, SAS SQL, SAS/ACCESS, Enterprise Guide, and SAS Management Console.
Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture, ETL frameworks, data warehousing, governance, metadata management, and performance tuning.
Strong expertise in IBM Mainframe technologies and SAS architecture.
Proven experience supporting large-scale batch processing environments.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

Experience with SAS Viya migration, platform modernization, and cloud integration initiatives.
Exposure to Mainframe modernization programs, API enablement, and hybrid architecture solutions.
Knowledge of automation technologies including Python, Shell Scripting, and Ansible.
Experience integrating Mainframe-based data assets with cloud and enterprise analytics platforms.
Demonstrated leadership in production support, incident management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and team mentoring.
