What You'll Do
Let's get the tricky part out of the way: this role doesn't fit neatly into a traditional box. It's part legal ops, part product specialist, part solutions architect, and part client whisperer.
If you enjoy roles that stay static, this probably isn't it. Your mission is to help our clients - some of the most sophisticated IP teams in the world, from IP boutiques to AmLaw IP groups to in-house IP departments - get the absolute most out of our platform.
IP here means the whole practice: trademark prosecution and litigation, patent prosecution and litigation, copyright, privacy, advertising and media, and brand protection. You'll slot into whichever of those you know best, and learn the rest alongside the clients who live in them.
- Acting as a thought partner to IP partners, prosecution leads, and litigation teams - building trusted relationships, addressing tricky pain points (the office-action response due Friday, the 200 marketplace listings using a client's mark on counterfeits, the ad claim that needs substantiation before the campaign goes live, the invalidity contentions with 40 references to run down), and identifying high-value opportunities for them to scale their use of Legora across the practice.
- Working together with Go To Market and Customer Success in taking full ownership of client relationships - from running pilots with trademark, patent, and brand-protection groups, to onboarding new team members across the IP practice, and ultimately guiding firm-wide adoption.
- Being the voice of IP users inside Legora - sharing insights from trademark and patent prosecutors, IP litigators, privacy counsel, and brand teams that directly inform product development, roadmap priorities, and strategic direction.
- Delivering clear, confident product demos and training that bring the power of our platform to life - whether you're presenting to a name partner, rolling out to a global IP group, or training associates on clearance review, prior-art analysis, or takedown triage.
- Documenting best practices from leading IP practices, contributing to the development of scalable playbooks, and helping shape how we grow this function globally.
- Confidently helping IP teams navigate one of the biggest shifts in how legal work gets done - from evaluating the ROI and competitive advantage of AI to mapping how it will reshape prosecution, brand enforcement, portfolio management, and IP litigation.
What You Bring
You come from the world of IP - but you've never been content with how things have always been done. You may have trained as a trademark or patent prosecutor, as an IP litigator, as privacy counsel, or in advertising, media, or brand protection. Perhaps after practicing you've specialized in legal operations, innovation, or technology implementation within a firm or a corporate IP department.
Maybe you've even moved into legal tech, helping IP teams modernize and scale. Either way, you know how IP teams think, work, and (sometimes) struggle - and you're ready to help them level up with technology. You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Have a background in IP - in any of its subgroups: trademark prosecution or litigation, patent prosecution or litigation, copyright, privacy, advertising and media, or brand protection - gained at an IP boutique, an AmLaw IP group, or an in-house IP team.
- At least 3+ years of legal practice at a law firm
- Are tech-curious and product-savvy. Not necessarily a coder, but passionate about navigating technical conversations, especially around generative AI, technology implementation, innovation and productivity.
- Communicate clearly and confidently with diverse stakeholders, from IP partners to in-house counsel, and from lawyers to engineers. Translating across disciplines is second nature to you.
- Bring structure to ambiguity and energy to complexity - and enjoy being the calm, credible presence in a fast-moving environment.
- Understand how to evaluate and improve existing processes as a direct result of new and emerging technologies - whether that's streamlining office-action responses, triaging a clearance search, sharpening prior-art and invalidity analysis, or running brand enforcement at scale.
- Are proactive, self-directed, and comfortable juggling multiple client relationships at once.
- Care deeply about quality, but don't get stuck in perfectionism - you get things done, and you make them better over time.
- Understand the commercial realities of legal practice: leveraging teams efficiently, demonstrating value to clients, managing complex matters, and balancing technical excellence with commercial delivery.
Plus, if you're a patent prosecutor
We're building out how Legora serves patent teams, and we'd especially like to hear from you if you bring:
- Registration to practice before the USPTO (patent bar) and a science or engineering degree (EE, ME, CS, physics, chemistry, or life sciences). We care that you can read a claim, a specification, and a piece of prior art with a practitioner's eye.
- Hands-on experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications. If you've written claims and responded to office actions yourself, you'll know exactly where the platform saves time - and where it doesn't yet.
