Key Responsibilities

  • Embed the Common Ground practice of CARE and Ways of Working, fostering a trauma-informed, culturally responsive school culture that prioritises young people's voices, agency and wellbeing.
  • Guide curriculum planning, assessment, quality assurance and moderation processes, including individual learning plans, learning adjustments and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) requirements.
  • Lead staff supervision, coaching, reflective practice and professional development to strengthen teaching capability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Support staff to apply therapeutic practices and respond effectively to behaviours of concern, while building positive relationships with young people, families, carers and community partners.
  • Oversee teaching and learning records, reporting and compliance processes, supporting safe learning environments and successful transitions into further education, employment and community participation.

Skills and Experience

  • Current NESA accreditation, or the ability to meet applicable accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in educational leadership, including staff supervision, coaching, professional development and leading collaborative teaching teams.
  • Proven ability to lead curriculum planning, assessment, differentiated instruction and quality improvement to achieve positive educational outcomes.
  • Experience supporting young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education, including those with complex needs, diverse learning styles and experiences of trauma.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic practice, inclusive education, individual learning plans, learning adjustments and NCCD requirements.
  • Highly developed communication, relationship-building and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to culturally responsive education, child safety and continuous professional development.
