What You’ll Do
You'll work with business, product, data, AI, and technology leaders to design end-to-end AI solutions for transformational Commercial Banking use cases, with a particular focus on
agentic AI journeys, machine learning, and intelligent workflow automation
.
In this role, you will translate complex Commercial Banking business journeys into scalable AI solution architectures. You will develop a strong understanding of the business process, users, decisions, data, systems, controls, and handoffs involved, and design how AI agents, machine-learning models, data services, applications, and human interactions come together to deliver the end-to-end journey.
You'll provide architecture leadership across the full AI solution lifecycle, from business problem definition and solution design through development, integration, deployment, and production readiness. This includes defining agent responsibilities and interactions, orchestration patterns, data and knowledge requirements, model and tool integration, human-in-the-loop controls, system interfaces, and appropriate guardrails.
You'll work closely with business partners, AI/data science teams, data engineering, software engineering, architecture, security, risk, and platform teams to ensure solutions are technically sound, scalable, reusable, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture and governance standards.
You'll also lead the solution design for one or more AI initiatives, guide technical teams through architecture and implementation decisions, evaluate technology choices and trade-offs, and ensure consistency across multiple agentic journeys. You will help establish reusable architectural patterns that accelerate delivery across Commercial Banking while keeping abreast of emerging developments in Generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, cloud platforms, and enterprise AI architecture.
Qualifications
- Strong experience designing
end-to-end enterprise AI solution architectures
, including integration across business applications, data platforms, APIs, AI/ML services, and cloud technologies
- Demonstrated understanding of
agentic AI architectures
, including multi-agent orchestration, agent/tool interaction, workflow and state management, event-driven patterns, human-in-the-loop design, knowledge retrieval, and AI guardrails
- Experience translating complex business processes and user journeys into scalable technical and solution architectures
- Strong understanding of
machine learning and Generative AI concepts
, including predictive modeling, LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, model evaluation, and the AI/ML lifecycle
- Demonstrated proficiency with Python and SQL, with the ability to work effectively with AI, data science, data engineering, and software engineering teams
- Experience across the full AI solution lifecycle, from business challenge and architecture through development, integration, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing evolution
- Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns including APIs, event-driven architectures, messaging, workflow orchestration, and integration with systems of record
- Experience designing AI solutions with appropriate consideration for
security, privacy, responsible AI, model risk, resiliency, observability, and enterprise controls
- Strong business stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to lead solution design across multidisciplinary teams and provide technical direction and mentorship to architects, engineers, data scientists, and AI practitioners
- Experience in financial services, with
Commercial Banking domain knowledge
considered a strong asset, including familiarity with areas such as lending, underwriting, credit, onboarding, relationship management, treasury and payments
- Ability to balance business value, user experience, technical feasibility, risk, cost, scalability, and time-to-market when making architecture decisions
- 10+ years of relevant experience across financial services, AI/ML, solution architecture, data, or software engineering
- Advanced degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, statistics, mathematics, or a related discipline
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as
AWS or Azure
, Generative AI platforms, and modern AI/ML development technologies would be considered a plus

$120,000.00 - $250,000.00 Pay Type:

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
