About the Role

Join the Youth Support & Pathways team within the Youth and Middle Years Unit at Yarra City Council. In this role, you will deliver practical short to medium-term case management and community outreach for young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study, or have ties to the City of Yarra. Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, you will guide young people through intake, holistic assessment, secondary consultation, and targeted service referrals. A key part of the work involves meeting young people in their own spaces, delivering outreach in local schools, libraries, and neighbourhood hubs to build rapport and reduce barriers to support. This role suits a skilled, motivated youth or social worker keen to deliver high-quality casework within a collaborative local government team that values reflective practice and real community outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical sector experience).

• Solid background in casework, intake, assessment, and care coordination alongside young people and their families.

• Grounded understanding of key youth work frameworks, including person-centred practice, intersectionality, trauma-informed care, and youth participation principles.

• Strong intercultural communication skills, with experience supporting young people from migrant, refugee, and asylum seeker backgrounds.

• Reliable administrative habits, particularly with keeping accurate case notes, maintaining client privacy, and completing routine reporting.

• Current Victorian Driver Licence, National Police Check, and Victorian Working with Children Check.
