How you'll demonstrate Ownership

As the first line of defense for securing privileged customer data, our work is crucial for customer and company success. Operating at the intersection of security, infrastructure, and feature development, our developers tackle creative technical challenges daily and engage with Cognite's most impactful business problems.  

The Impact you bring to Cognite

As an engineer at Cognite you will

• Own major parts of our identity platform, such as token introspection, external IdP federation, or the audit log pipeline from design through to production.
• Lead design reviews and set the technical direction, testing practices, and operational standards for your domain.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into scalable, secure designs for identity, access management, and auditing at scale.
• Build and operate services end to end in Rust and Kotlin, and applications in TypeScript.
• Shape our product's direction by working closely with teams across engineering, product, and customer success.
• Mentor engineers and raise the standard of code review, reliability, and operational excellence across the team.

  Required Qualifications

• 5yrs or more production experience in Rust or Kotlin, ideally from a SaaS product environment, and the flexibility to learn the other.
• A track record of owning a business-critical service in production, through design, delivery, and operation.
• Deep interest or hands-on expertise in authorization, authentication, and security, OAuth2/OIDC, tokens, and multi-tenancy.
• Hands-on experience with large-scale cloud deployments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and Kubernetes.
• Experienced using AI coding assistants and agents in day-to-day engineering, with sound judgement about when to rely on their output and when to verify it.
• Skilled at resolving complex issues from logs, traces, and metrics, prioritizing for impact, and communicating clearly across teams.
