Senior Product Manager, Air Shopping Platform
About the role
Introduction to the Team
In this role, you will
- Own the product vision and roadmap for flight search and recommendation quality measurement, translating target outcomes and KPIs - such as relevance, ranking quality, recommendation engagement, and search-to-booking success - into measurable delivery milestones.
- Define and own product metrics for search relevance and recommendation quality. Establish clear success measures, review them regularly, and hold the roadmap accountable to outcomes across both surfaces.
- Partner with Ranking and Personalization ML Science, ML Engineering, and Search Engineering to define and evaluate ranking and recommendation model quality, and to make informed trade-offs on proposed model changes.
- Set up and scale the search relevance evaluation system, including a curated query corpus, human relevance annotations, and LLM-as-judge scoring. Report results through the broader Search Health program and extend evaluation methods to recommendation surfaces such as destination recommendations, cross-sell, and rebooking.
- Connect offline model-quality metrics with online indicators to assess changes and guide prioritization.
- Lead competitive benchmarking of flight search relevance and recommendations. Translate findings into a prioritized set of product, ranking, and personalization investments.
- Use customer insights, experimentation, and performance data to identify opportunities, validate hypotheses, and measure the traveler and business impact of changes.
- Partner with Airline Supply, marketplace, and platform teams to improve offer visibility, content quality, pricing competitiveness, and shopping performance.
- Shape how Expedia flight offers are surfaced across metasearch platforms, search engines, and other high-scale acquisition channels, balancing relevance and customer experience with traffic economics and business performance.
- Work with Engineering on search architecture, content retrieval, caching, latency, content freshness, connectivity, and system scalability. Evaluate trade-offs among coverage, search costs, performance, and traveler experience.
- Align cross-functional stakeholders on priorities, success metrics, and execution across complex dependencies; maintain delivery momentum as needs and evidence evolve.
- Shape the long-term Air Search and Recommendations vision and contribute to an 18-month roadmap for Expedia Group's air-commerce strategy.
