About the role

Established in 2010, the Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) is a pan-university research institute that focuses on systems-level research for tropical megacities. It performs translational research that covers the energy value chain from generation to innovative end-use solutions, motivated by industrialisation and deployment. ERI@N has multiple Interdisciplinary Research Programmes which focus on translational Research, Development & Deployment which focus on specific area of the energy value chain, and a number of Living labs and Testbeds which facilitate large scale technology deployment enabling validation and demonstration of real-world applications. For more details, please view https://www.ntu.edu.sg/erian We are looking for a Research Fellow for zeolite synthesis and application. The role will focus on zeolite materials synthesis, catalyst preparation, performance evaluation, and mechanistic understanding via detailed characterizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hydrothermal and solvothermal synthesis of zeolites, catalyst loading and modification techniques such as impregnation and ion exchange.
  • Design formulations and optimize processes for zeolite-based catalysts, including control of crystallization conditions, screening of structure-directing agents, and post-treatment processes.
  • Set up and maintain catalyst performance evaluation systems, including fixed-bed and batch reactors.
  • Systematically assess catalyst activity, selectivity, and stability in target thermal catalytic reactions, such as hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, hydrodeoxygenation, and isomerization.
  • Catalyst Characterization

Job Requirements

  • PhD qualification degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials chemistry or related field
  • At least 2 years of relevant experiences in zeolite synthesis and related catalyst development and hands-on experience running thermal reactions.
  • Familiarity with GC, HPLC and materials characterization methods
  • Good communication skills
