About the role
Mater Private Hospital Mackay is seeking experienced
Registered Nurses
to join our growing Perioperative Services team. We currently have opportunities available within our state-of-the-art Main Theatre complex, with a particular focus on
Scrub/Scout Nurses
to support our ophthalmology surgical services. We are also recruiting
Day Surgery Nurses
for positions within our standalone
Eye Clinic on Welling Street
, working in a specialised ophthalmology day surgery setting. Ophthalmology experience is highly regarded; however, we welcome applications from experienced perioperative/endoscopy nurses looking to develop their skills in this rewarding specialty.
Our Main Theatres operate Monday to Friday between
7:00am and 9:00pm

What you’ll be doing
Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards you will be responsible for:
- Facilitating the surgeon within the theatre setting, supporting and collaborating with the theatre team to provide excellent patient centered care
- Preparation of the operating theatre and preparing patients for surgery ensuring all documentation is completed.
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
- Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
- Minimum of 1 years' experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital perioperative setting
- At least 1 years' recent Scrub/Scout or day surgery experience
- Experience working on ophthalmology cases highly desirable
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded although not essential
- Ability to work in an ever-changing and fast paced environment
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
