Market Analyst & Strategic Growth Specialist (Chinese speaking)
About the role
Who We Are
What We Offer
1. Understand & Translate Chinese Customer Requirements
- Engage with Chinese customers (existing and potential) to deeply understand their logistics needs, pain points, expectations, and decision-making processes.
- Translate customer requirements (language, business culture, operational expectations) into structured briefs for Mekong internal teams (Sales, Product, Operations, CX).
- Act as the primary interpreter during cross-functional meetings where Chinese customer needs are discussed.
- Proactively identify gaps between what Chinese customers expect and what local teams typically deliver.
2 Internal Coordination & Requirement Communication
- Work closely with local Sales, Products and CX to ensure customer needs are accurately reflected in service proposals and SLAs.
- Support the development of customer requirement summaries for each strategic Chinese account, highlighting specific expectations on responsiveness, flexibility, reporting, and escalation.
- Facilitate internal workshops to educate local teams on Chinese business culture and common expectations.
- Follow up with internal functions to ensure that customer requirements are being actioned and met.
3 Market Intelligence
- Monitor publicly available information on Chinese investment trends in Mekong (news, government announcements, basic industry reports) – depth is secondary to relevance.
- Gather customer feedback and competitor intelligence during client conversations.
- Share relevant market updates with the team in a simple, actionable format (e.g., bulletins or quick summaries).
4 Support Ecosystem Building
- Participate in selected chamber events as a participant (not as a lead generator) to stay informed.
- Help identify potential partner needs based on customer feedback (e.g., “customer often asks for X service we don’t have”).
- Support the PMO with customer-related input for SLA design and partner discussions
Who Are We Looking For
- Language Fluent Chinese (Mandarin) – written and spoken – is mandatory (HSK6 or equivalent proficiency).
- Work Experience Minimum 2–3 years in a customer-facing role, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding, or a related service industry. Experience working with Chinese clients is a strong plus.
- Communication Strong ability to listen, summarize, and rephrase customer needs in a way that local colleagues can easily understand.
- Interpersonal Skills Comfortable working with multiple departments; can bridge cultural and communication gaps.
- Analytical Skills Basic data handling (Excel, simple pivot tables) is sufficient. Advanced analytics is not required.
- Proactiveness Able to ask customers the right questions to uncover true needs, not just surface requests.
