Security Assistant

The Security Assistant monitors and receives routine and emergency calls from a variety of sources that need police, fire, medical or other emergency services. The position resides within the Police Service, Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System (ECHCS) and satellites. The Police Service provides a full range of law enforcement and security support for all ECHCS facilities, and others. In addition to the application and questionnaire, this position requires an online assessment. The online assessment measures critical general competencies required to perform the job. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary in nature. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, such as papers books, and small parts, or driving an automobile. Working on off-tours, rotating shifts, or regular overtime may be required along with being assigned to various locations within the area of responsibility as required.
