EY-Parthenon - Manager - Strategy - Financial Services

As a Manager, you will join EY-Parthenon’s Financial Services Strategy team, one of the fastest growing strategy teams in Australia. Based in Sydney or Melbourne, you will advise C-suite and senior executives on high-impact strategy engagements across banking, insurance, and wealth and asset management.

You will lead workstreams and teams on the strategic questions that matter most to financial services leaders: where to grow, which markets or assets to pursue, how to create value from transactions, how to build differentiated customer propositions, and how to reshape organisations for the future. Your work may span growth and enterprise strategy, AI and digital strategy, merger and acquisition assessment, market entry and expansion, operating model redesign, cost and productivity transformation, portfolio optimisation and strategic reviews. Working alongside a highly talented team, you will help clients turn complex analysis into clear decisions and practical transformation agendas, while mentoring junior team members and delivering executive-ready insights.

Representative projects include:

• Supporting a superannuation fund CEO and Board assess potential merger partners, including market-wide analysis of fund cash flows, member demographics and long-term financial sustainability

• Advising on a buyside assessment of a wealth management asset, including testing strategic fit, identifying value creation levers and validating the opportunity through qualitative and quantitative analysis.

• Designing a digital health and wellness proposition for a private health insurer and major retailer, combining insurance products, health services and digital channels to create a more integrated customer experience

This hybrid role is based in Warrang – Sydney.

As a Manager in the EY-Parthenon Financial Services Strategy team, you will:

• Lead day-to-day delivery on client engagement teams, advising clients on complex strategy issues in the financial services sector while managing key client stakeholders

• Lead the development of hypotheses, workplans, and analytical approaches, translating client needs into structured project activities and high-quality, client-ready outputs

• Drive qualitative and quantitative analysis to identify risks, opportunities and strategic implications, and translate these into actionable recommendations

• Synthesise insights into clear, strategic narratives and executive-ready reports and presentations to support decision-making

• Coach and develop junior team members, providing guidance and feedback to foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing team culture

• Support business development by contributing to proposals, credentials and thought leadership

• A bachelor’s degree with outstanding academic performance and at least 5 years of relevant work experience

• Experience developing or supporting corporate strategy in Financial Services (banking, capital markets, payments, insurance, wealth management and/or asset management), gained via consulting and/or industry roles

• Advanced problem-solving skills, curiosity and creative thinking

• Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis, with the confidence to translate complex data into meaningful insights

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience in delivering high-quality reports and presentations

• Strong interest in AI and technological change, with demonstrated ability to use generative AI tools effectively in a professional context

• Adept at building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and clients

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
