About the role
The Chief of Sterile Processing Service(SPS) is a direct report to the Associate Director for Patient Care Services(ADPCS) of the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System, a Complexity 1C facility. The Nurse IV Chief of Sterile Processing Service(SPS) plays a leadership role in the ongoing systematic evaluation and improvement of quality and effectiveness of SPS program outcomes.
U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. The selectee needs to obtain their driving record from their states Department/Bureau of Motor Vehicles (DMV/BMV) website and submit it along with a copy of their driver's license before FJO can be issued. Subject to background/security investigation. Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process. Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents). Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period.
