About the role
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.
Must be a current USCP sworn employee below the rank of Sergeant and have attained the rank of Private First Class. Must have successfully completed your probationary period by the closing date of this announcement. Must successfully complete a Federal Law Enforcement Training Accreditation (FLETA) accredited Law Enforcement Instructor Training Program (LEITP) or equivalent. If budget or availability restricts this requirement, the TSB will provide on-the-job training until such certification can be obtained. Must possess and maintain a valid REAL ID U.S. driver's license. Must not be in restricted leave status as of the date of selection. Must be in a full and unrestricted duty status to attend, participate, and successfully complete all required training courses related to this position as of the date of selection. Must be available to work flexible hours, rotating shifts and possible midnight assignments. The work requires physical agility and dexterity. FLETC Assignment Conditions • Regular training day: 0730–1630 with a 30 minute non compensable meal period.
