About the role
he Design Engineer will be responsible for driving
Change of Supplier (CoS)
and
localization projects
for Low Voltage (LV) electrical products, including
circuit breakers (MCCB, ACB, MCB), enclosures, busways, and accessories
(e.g., rotary handles, motor mechanisms, trip units).
The role requires strong
design ownership, cross-functional collaboration, supplier technical evaluation, and product compliance assurance
to ensure seamless transition without impacting product performance, reliability, or regulatory compliance.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Change of Supplier Execution
• Lead end-to-end execution of
supplier change projects
for LV products and components.
• Perform
design validation and impact analysis
(form, fit, function).
• Ensure
technical equivalence or improvement
versus existing designs.
• Collaborate with procurement, quality, and suppliers during qualification phases.
• Support
PPAP / Industrialization activities
.
•
Localization Projects
• Drive
localization and cost optimization initiatives
in line with business targets.
• Redesign or adapt components to meet
local manufacturing and sourcing capabilities
.
• Ensure compliance with
international standards (IEC, UL)
and local regulatory requirements.
• Balance
cost, quality, and performance trade-offs
during localization.
•
Product Design & Engineering
• Execute or support
mechanical/electromechanical design modifications
for:
• MCCB, ACB, MCB components
• Busway systems
• Enclosures & structural parts
• Accessories (rotary handles, trip units, motor mechanisms)
• Create and update
CAD models, drawings, BOMs
, and technical documentation.
• Perform
tolerance analysis, material selection, and design optimization
.
• Good knowledge on materials - Plastics, copper, aluminium, steel, etc..
• Good knowledge on Manufacturing knowledge for moulding
•
Validation & Testing
• Define and develop
validation plans (Component & Product level)
.
• Support or coordinate:
• Mechanical testing (endurance, stress, thermal)
• Electrical testing (breaking capacity, insulation)
• Analyse test results and implement
corrective design actions
.
•
Cross-functional Collaboration
• Work closely with:
• Procurement & Supplier Quality
• Manufacturing & Industrialization teams
• Product Management & R&D
• Ensure alignment on
cost, timeline, and technical deliverables
.
• Proven communication & interpersonal skills - a clear thinker that can simplify complexity
• Able to set clear goals, communicate priorities
Qualifications
BE / B Tech in Mechanical/Electrical engineering with 6+ relevant experience
